Little Acres Ranch
Eddie and Joyce Thomas
Wolfe City Texas
This is where we call home. The ranch is an old cotton farm that has been converted into pasture for grazing and hay. The house was built in 1963 from used materials. The old barn has been used to house cotton pickers in the distant past. We will soon tear the old barn down and replace with one that suites our needs for goat ranching
LAR Carrie with her new kids in the spring of 2000, our first kids for the new  year and new century. We allow the does to kid in the pasture and after they have cleaned them up and the kids are ready to travel, we move them to a mothering-on-pen for a few days. These kids are about 1 hour old in this picture.
One of our 1/2 blood does with her new kids, also very soon after the kids were born. Getting their first milk from mom. This doe is Spanish X Boer and is a first time mom. The mothering instincts of both the Spanish and Boer is very good. This doe and her kids walked to the pens about 200 yards away in about 2 hours after the kids were born. These are some of our first 3/4 kids in 2000.
OUR NEW BARN BUILT IN SUMMER OF 2000
Welcome to our web site! We have been breeding and raising  Improved South African Boer Goats for 10 years now. What a ride it has been. We have enjoyed most o f it. Loosing animals is never fun but it happens.
We have been very blessed by God to have been able to own and bred very good animals from the begining of our experience in raising goats. The very first goats we bought were Spanish does and a 50 % Buck named  Black Jack. The does were wild as deer and Jack was just Jack. Our very first kid crop was amazing to us. All the does had twins and all were healthy and survived. As we look back that was another of God's miricales.
We were not satisfied with the quality of these animals sincw we had seen Boer kids at Rocky Comfort Recearch facility Missouri. Joyce was really bitten by the Boer bug that day. We contacted the breeder we bought the start up herd from and she told of a near by breeder named David Dale. A phone call to David and we were on the way to Stillwell OK to look at Boer goats on a ranch for the first time. Well you could probably finish this story youself from there. Yep, we bought a Fullblood buck and three fullblood does that very day. We were so excited! We were in the Boer goat business. The quality of these animals was as good as we could have hoped for. One of the does is still here and has had a single kid this year. David has continued to be a good friend over all these years and has been a great help to us in this business.
We decided to get some exposure in the show ring with our new animals and did very well in the prize catagory of that element. We made some friends that will always be friends even though we gave up showing our animals and settled in to improve our herd as much as possible. We built our initial herd from the spanish does we had and these three fullblood does plus one more doe of Fred Homeyer breeding. out of his Texas Twister buck.
As we begin to expand our herd latter, we sought the best animals we could aford to buy with our budget. One more time God has been very good to us in this endevor.  We used our does out of the original four does and Super Champ's Ezekiel. To build a closed herd and were very sucessful in this. Ezekiel was a grandson of Lucas Burger's great buck Popeye and he gave us lots of early sucess.
